Red Ochre: Earth’s Natural Pigment, Industrial Powerhouse

Red ochre, a naturally occurring earth pigment, is rich, earthy hues, born from iron oxides. It captivate humanity for millennia, adorning cave paintings, ancient artifacts, pottery, house paint and decoration.

Red ochre is a natural pigment composed primarily due to hematite (iron oxide), mixed with clay, silica, and other minerals. Its color ranges from a light pinkish red to a deep, brownish red, depending on the concentration of iron oxide and the presence of other minerals.

Aravali Range of hills has richest and finest deposits of red ochre, some of these are owned and mined by Terrameta. We can further process it to refine quality, through crushing, grinding, and calcination (heating) to achieve the desired color and consistency, packed in powder form to industrial usage.

Terrameta Resources has supply capacity of more than 500 metric tonnes per month.

We offer following varieties / type:

      • Light color variants: Contains a lower concentration of iron oxide, resulting in a lighter, pinkish-red hue.
      • Dark color variants: Has a higher concentration of iron oxide, resulting in a deeper, brownish-red color.
      • Burnt Sienna: A variety that is heated (calcined), which intensifies its color and creates a warmer, more brownish-red tone.
      • Venetian Red: A synthetic or natural red pigment, often including red ochre, known for its deep, rich red color.

Available forms of Red ochre:

      • Lumps Forms: Rock, lumps form directly mined and packed / stuffed.
      • Refined and Powdered: Available in desired quality, powdered in mesh size.

Industrial & High-End Use / Applications:

      • Construction: Used in cement, concrete, and mortars to add color and improve durability.
      • Ceramics: used as a coloring agent in ceramic glazes and bodies.
      • Specialty Paints and Coatings: Used in specialized industrial coatings requiring high durability and color stability.
      • Cosmetics: Used in natural cosmetics and personal care products for its coloring properties. Very pure and finely ground red ochre is used to create natural and luxurious pigments in high-end cosmetics.
      • Agriculture: Used as a soil amendment to improve iron content.
