White Barytes – High Gravity, high whiteness
White barytes, also known as white barites, is a naturally occurring barium sulfate (BaSO₄) mineral. It often contains trace amounts of strontium, silica, and other minerals. The whiteness of the baryte is determined by the purity of the barium sulfate and the absence of impurities. Due to its high specific gravity, chemical inertness, and whiteness, it forms one of most important raw material for high grade paints & coating, exterior grade paints, plastic, petrochemicals etc. manufacturing.
Due to chemical inertness and radiation shield properties, it is widely used in medical applications.
White Barytes / Barite industrial Use:
- Paints and Coatings: Used as a filler and extender, improving the density, opacity, and durability of exterior grade paint and coatings, Specialty Coatings, high grade paints, used in the automotive, aerospace, architectural sectors etc.
- Plastics: Enhances the density, stiffness, and sound absorption properties of plastics, including high-performance engineering plastics used in automotive and electronics industries.
- Rubber: Acts as a filler and extender, improving the strength and abrasion resistance of rubber products.
- Glass Industry: Used as a fluxing agent and to improve the workability of glass.
- Medical Applications: Used as a contrast agent in X-ray imaging.
- Construction: Used as a filler in concrete and other construction materials to increase density and radiation shielding.
- Drilling Fluids: Due to its high specific density, baryte is also used to increases the hydrostatic pressure of drilling mud, preventing blowouts in oil and gas exploration.
Varieties / Type:
- High-Talc content for Carving: Ideal for artists and sculptors.
- Chlorite-Rich for Industrial Use: Enhanced durability and heat resistance.
- Magnesite-Rich for Thermal Applications: Specialized heat-related uses.
- Color Variations: Grey, green, brown, and black, depending on mineral composition.
